Recently the Suwannee County Commissioners attended the Florida Rural Economic Development Association (FREDA) summit in St. Augustine. FREDA is a consortium comprised of the three rural areas of opportunity representing 30 rural counties in Florida. The FREDA summit is the premier event focused exclusively on rural economic development issues and held sessions on such topics as workforce, broadband, site readiness, state and federal funding opportunities, housing strategies, and an update on the state of the economy in Florida.
Suwannee County was recognized as the only county to have all of its commissioners in attendance. The summit provided opportunities for all of the representatives from Suwannee County to learn, network, and develop relationships that will further enhance Suwannee County’s economic development efforts.
