Supporting Growth Through Rural Advocacy

Team Suwannee recently traveled to Tallahassee to participate in Rural Counties Days at the Florida State Capitol. The annual event brings together representatives from Florida’s rural communities to highlight legislative priorities and strengthen relationships with state leaders.

Suwannee County representatives had a valuable opportunity to meet with Representative Jason Shoaf, Senator Corey Simon, and Secretary Alex Kelly to discuss legislative issues that directly impact all rural counties. We also discussed the North Florida regional hurricane shelter and thanked them for their support of this project.

On the second day, we hosted a booth in the Capitol courtyard, providing information about Suwannee County’s businesses and tourism offerings. We were also honored to be a part of the Rural County Days press conference highlighting the achievements of Senator Corey Simon and Representative Jason Shoaf.

As a rural community, maintaining our strong partnerships at the state level is essential to ensuring sustainable growth and protecting the quality of life for our residents. Rural Counties Days serves as a reminder that while each county is unique, we all contribute to the strength and resilience of Florida’s economy.

Suwannee County remains committed to proactive engagement with state officials and will continue working to advance policies that support long-term economic vitality, business growth, and quality of life for our community.
