New Hotel Breaks Ground in Suwannee County
Suwannee County Economic Development hosted officials, community leaders, and project partners as they gathered this week to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new Hampton Inn & Suites, a significant milestone for the county’s continued economic growth and tourism development.
Located at the highly visible intersection of US Highway 129 and Interstate 10, the five-story hotel will feature 123 guest rooms, including 36 suites, and is expected to serve both business and leisure travelers visiting the region.
This project represents a $20 million capital investment in Suwannee County and marks the first new hotel development in the area since 2001—highlighting both the demand for additional lodging and the county’s forward momentum as a destination.
The hotel will showcase one of Hilton’s newest design concepts, making it the only Hampton Inn & Suites within a 100-mile radius to feature the updated prototype. Guests can expect modern amenities, including a fitness center, spacious breakfast area, an outdoor pool, and thoughtfully designed accommodations to meet the needs of today’s travelers.
A key feature of the property will be its approximately 3,000-square-foot meeting space, capable of accommodating up to 175 guests. This addition is expected to enhance Suwannee County’s ability to host conferences, business meetings, and special events, further strengthening the local economy.
“The most important thing is that we care about this community,” said owner, Nick Patel. “We want to raise the standard of living of people living here. We believe in that. We will do our part and we will be an exemplary business at this I-10 exit”.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, attendees also had the opportunity to see the county’s newly acquired ladder truck, a recent appropriation that underscores ongoing investments in public safety infrastructure, which works together alongside economic development initiatives.
Originally introduced as “Project Gorilla,” the economic development project was first announced earlier this year and has quickly progressed to construction. Its strategic location at a major interstate interchange positions it to serve as a key asset for travelers passing through North Florida, as well as those visiting Suwannee County for business, recreation, and events.
Construction is already underway, with community leaders expressing enthusiasm for the project’s impact and the opportunities it will bring.
